A DownEast Guide was founded in 1996 by the good folks at AcadiaNet a Maine based Internet Service Provider. For the past 10 years we have been promoting our members business to the worlds tourism markets.

Over the past few years we have experienced fantastic growth. Our membership base has grown to over 1200 business's in Maine (Kittery to Calais). Today we are committed to expanding the Guide into two other regions of the Mid and Southern Coast.

This year we have experienced record breaking visitor traffic, with more than 2 million page views, by over 228,000 individual visitors (unique visitors, with unique IP addresses).

In May of 2002, the Guide was purchased by Winter Island Group. Winter Island Group is a full service web development firm originally from So. Freeport, Maine. Winter Island Group has been delivering site design, programming and hosting since 1994. We are committed to nurturing the Guide into maturity.
